Why is Bon Jovi a candidate for the Rock & Roll Hall of Celebrity and not .

Sure they had some cute hits in the '80s, but has Bon Jovi really earned the good to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?

As Times music critic Ann Powers accurately noted, the name of nominees seemed like a nice playlist you'd see on a good iPod mix. The 15 artists include legends and icons like AliceCooper, the Beastie Boys, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Dr.

John, LL Cool J, Darlene Love, Donna Summer and Tom Waits.

If inducted, the musicians will be held in the same view as groundbreaking stars like Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley, U2 and the Who.

And we are alleged to think that Bon Jovi fits in with that class?

The commentors at Pop & Hiss were also nonplussed and asked why the Canadian trio Rush were overlooked once again.

Robbie: The Stone Hall is becoming a good ol' boys network. LL Cool J, J Geils and the Beastie Boys over Chicago? And what about DEEP PURPLE? Who votes and who should be voting. Bon jovi is a good band but they are hardly PIONEERS OF Stone AND Wheel LIKE DEEP PURPLE AND CHICAGO. Lets get real and boycott this phony I wash your game if you wash my back stuff

tyb stuck in cali: Happy for Bon Jovi-but confused. Bon Jovi themselves take in the past admitted to copying Def Leppard's sound, particularly "Slippery When Wet" being "Pyromania Pt.II" Yet, Def Leppard has never yet been whispered about as a nominee. Why? Because Rick Allen's car accident slowed their recordings down? Or because Bon Jovi had more hits in the 1990's?

RD: What about Rush? They have been round for about 40 years, are gifted musicians and have influenced many artists already enshrined in the HOF. They make something like 30 gold or platinum records and proceed to go with the same line up for 36 years. Why the snub?

jweems: No RUSH again? What a joke!!

So what's your take? Am I being too rough on the Jersey boys with the teased locks? Or is this nominee giving the Mansion of Fame a bad name? Leave your thoughts below.
